With the presently booming advances in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies, new avenues for land surface observation are also opening. In recent years, the availability of UAV-based multispectral, hyperspectral, radar, thermal and LiDAR data has expanded rapidly. The very high spatial resolution of UAV-based data uniquely enables spatially explicit land surface studies at a sub-meter scale. When combined with artificial intelligence data analysis tools, these UAV technologies provide new and exciting opportunities to get insights into ecosystem health and functioning.

O

ur laboratory operates a selection of UAVs, notably DJI Matrice 400, Matrice 300 RTK, Matrice 4T, Mavic 3E, and Phantom 4 Pro multi-rotors. Complementing our UAV fleet, we have a range of sensors such as multispectral (Micasense RedEdge-P), hyperspectral (HAIP BlackBird V2), LiDAR (DJI Zenmuse L1 and L3), thermal (FLIR Vue Pro R - ThermalCapture), and photogrammetric cameras (DJI Zenmuse P1), selected to match the needs of our diverse range of applications and research objectives.
